Mineral Separation

We have extensive expertise in mineral separation, from whole rock to mineral splits.

We can provide for the separation of specific mineral splits (eg, apatite, zircon or titanite for thermochronology analyses or micas for Ar/Ar dating) or whole rock ground mass (eg basalts, whole rock analyses).

Our methodology utilises the crushing of (whole) rocks, heavy liquid, magnetic separation and manual handpicking to obtain the purest mineral fractions.

Our turn-around from whole rock to mineral split is in the order of 1 – 2 days per sample, depending on sample size and complexity.
